My Week in Sketches

7:03 AM

Chatting with my friend, late into the night...

...and catching up with a friend over coffee.

I got to be the bedtime-story-reader to my friends' kids before they went to sleep.

I joined a new small group at church, which I'm really excited about.

At work, I've been working with our contractor to finish renovations on our office building. There are a lot of details to think through!

Some friends came over to my house for the first time this week, and it's always funny having to explain my whimsical decoration choices.

I went camping with my friends last weekend at a beach in Malibu! It was so great.
My friends get excited whenever they get to talk to grown-ups, after a long day of talking to toddlers...

My friends' kiddos were happy playing at the beach for HOURS.

My favorite part of the trip was one night when we started shooting things into the air with a slingshot and tried to catch them. It was so much more fun than it sounds.

We had a set of corn-hole (aka bean bag toss) and the kids enjoyed retrieving the bean bags for me when I was practicing. It was pretty convenient, I'm not gonna' lie.

I swung by my parents' house afterwards, and they graciously allowed me to do all of my post-camping laundry.

I had to hunt all through my house for this year's Comic Con badges so that I could pre-register for next year. Look out, nerds, I'm coming your way!

I love when my coworkers bring their kids to the office, and the halls are filled with giggles and the pitter-patter of little feet.

Our office building is still being renovated, and this week we went as a staff and wrote things on the ground before the carpet went down and covered it up!

This was just a funny exchange we witnessed, as a five-year-old tried to delegate the task she had just agreed to...and she wasn't fooling anyone.

The church I work at hosted a conference on Friday night and Saturday morning. It was a great time, but funny to work so late on a Friday and then so early on a Saturday.

My friends and I attended a screening of Indiana Jones on a rooftop! So cool.

I attended the baby shower of my oh-so-pregnant friend.

A friend and I went shopping at an outdoor mall, and it was so relaxing and peaceful and we had fun dreaming up ideas together.

I don't know why this was what came to mind as I reflected on my day...but yes, sometimes I have awkward interactions with coworkers when I'm unsure of my wardrobe.

My Week in Sketches

7:25 AM

Nothing brings a staff together like moving a 1,000-pound projection screen.

My friends have "Pizza Video Night" with their kids every Friday night. This week, their 4-year-old adorably begged me to stay and watch with them...and I could't turn her down.

I had a friend swing by my house to pick something up, and it was a fun excuse to give her a quick tour of my place, which she hadn't seen yet.

This week I ran into a college student who was one of my campers when I was 21 and she was 10. It was crazy though, I could totally remember what she looked like as a fifth-grader!

I played in a wiffle ball tournament on Labor Day, and one of the guys was from England. He had never played wiffle ball or baseball, and it was the weirdest thing having to explain the most basic rules of baseball to someone.

The next day I went to a Dodger game with my dad, who knows EVERYTHING about baseball. Sometimes it's so funny to me when he knows what play is about to happen before it happens.

And I love when I run into my friends' kids at work!
