My Week in Sketches7:46 AM
Last week at my friends' house, the children kept chasing each other with what looked like a very real axe. I quickly learned that it was a prop from a "lumberjack" Halloween costume, and that it was harmless, but it was the funniest thing to see out of the corner of your eye.
My parents came to visit for a belated birthday-and-father's-day celebration! Our family really likes games, and I had to solve a few riddles before I was allowed to open gifts. That's how we roll.
Last weekend I bought a bunch of obnoxiously healthy food in an effort to eat healthier. This marks the first time I've purchsed anything involving "flax" or "whey." Sigh.
I went for a run last week. Realistically, I think it was more of a walk, but I'm still going to call it a run. And after toiling along, block after block in the sweltering heat until I couldn't take it any more...I checked and saw I'd gone 1.5 miles. Funny, it felt like eternity.
I've been practicing getting more sleep at night...and low and behold - I can now wake up before seven and feel like I got a full night's sleep! Granted, I went to bed at 9:30pm, but I'm still feeling good about it.
Oh, good heavens. I've been working out...it's not pretty. Let's move on.
Every Wednesday in summer, I oversee a lunch that involves cooking a lot of steak. The barbeque is in a pretty swell location, though - looking right over a creek up to the mountains. It's a nice spot to spend my Wednsday mornings.
