House Hunters

7:59 AM

Right now my new roomies and I are in the midst of searching for a new place to live. It turns out that I LOVE house-hunting. I love seeing different styles of architecture and floor plans and trying to envision furniture in different places...And when you're house-hunting for a rental, you kind of get to just look at all the houses and pick which one you like best, without having to stress about loans and mortgages. It's a dream.

The funny thing is (at least, I amuse myself with this), even if I love a house that I'm touring, I have almost nothing to say about it while I'm in it. At least, not while the agent is still in the room. My roomies are walking around like pros, commenting on the great counter space or how much light the windows let in, and I just follow them around like "Yeah, totally" or just nodding a lot. I don't know why. I have opinions about every inch of a house, but for some reason it just doesn't come out when someone's showing me the house. I could never make it on the HGTV show "House Hunters" for that reason. It's like I reject the pressure of being fake - I want the freedom to say "This flooring is great but these cabinets are hideous" but instead you're only supposed to say nice things (and apparently I follow the rule of "If you can only say something nice, then don't say anything at all.") Anyway, we're looking at more houses today and I can hardly wait! I'll try to be more chatty.
